Crowley to launch new weekly express LCL service from Houston to Puerto Rico

Marine transportation firm Crowley Maritime will launch a new weekly express less-than-container load (LCL) service from Houston, Texas, US in early February.

The company said that the new LCL service will get shippers' cargo to Puerto Rico in only 11 days and also better serve customers shipping to Puerto Rico from the Gulf Coast of the US.

Upon delivery of the cargo in Puerto Rico, the company's logistics professionals will provide door deliveries from its warehouse using its dedicated island trucking services.

With the new LCL service customers will be able to take advantage of additional logistics services, which include air-freight consolidations, customs brokerage, cross docking, warehousing and distribution, pick-and-pack, on-island residential deliveries, cargo insurance services and more.

Crowley director of logistics and engineering Ken Black said to make this unique weekly service possible, the company's logistics team has teamed up with its subsidiary Jarvis International Freight.

"Together we are pleased to offer the fastest services between Houston and Puerto Rico, under the Crowley name, which customers have come to know and trust for reliability and service excellence," Black said.

The new express LCL service is complemented by the company's traditional full-containerload (FCL) vessel service with regular sailings to San Juan from the Northeast, from its Pennsauken, New Jersey, terminal, as well as from the Southeast, from its Jacksonville, Florida, terminal.

Crowley senior vice president and general manager of logistics Steve Collar said the addition of this service from the Gulf region is yet another extension of the company's commitment to providing total cargo and supply chain solutions to Puerto Rico.

"Now with LCL shipments from the Gulf, Crowley is serving Puerto Rico shippers from three strategic US locations," Collar said.
