Kerry starts third phase expansion of Thailand's Kerry Siam Seaport

LBR Staff Writer Published 09 February 2012

Kerry Logistics, a China-based logistics services provider, has started construction on the third phase of Kerry Siam Seaport (KSSP) at Laem Chabang in Thailand.

The company said that the expansion of KSSP, a multipurpose ports in Asia, is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The expansion which includes installation of two new container rotation systems and 31 system boxes for bulk loading is due to the growing demand at KSSP bulk and container terminals.

Two 150 metre long berths will also be added at KSSP which are expected to be completed by September this year.

Upon completion of the expansion KSSP will have ten operational berths with a total length of 1,500 metres.

Kerry Logistics executive director for Thailand Kledchai Benjaathonsirikul said the expansion has been driven by growing demand across the bulk and box trades and the new berths will help the company increase capacity and efficiency across our terminals.
