Old Dominion expands LCL service to ten Asian ports

LBR Staff Writer Published 31 January 2012

Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL), a provider of inter-regional and national LTL service and value-added logistics services, has expanded its Pacific Promise less-than-container load (LCL) service to 10 additional ports in eight Asian countries.

With the addition of these 10 new ports, the company will serve a total of 23 ports in 10 countries throughout Asia.

The new Pacific Promise LCL service offers customers guaranteed transit times up to 40% faster than air freight and also includes port-to-door tracking of all shipments.

Pacific Promise which is offered via OD-Global is available to companies in a number of categories, which include importing and exporting high-value and time-sensitive goods.

Old Dominion VP of OD-Global Greg Plemmons said in an average month, the company moves shipments between the US and more than 40 countries, with a significant amount of that freight to and from Asia.

"Expanding Pacific Promise to include the countries in Asia to which our customers most frequently ship gives them greater access to our reliable and cost-efficient service," Plemmons said.
